Oct 17 morning
The name of that big temple in Cambodia was Angkor Wat. There are over 100 temples around Semi Reap Cambodia built from the 7th century to the 13 th century. Just wanted to finish off that story. If you look it up you will also find Angkor Thom----another site of temples that make up the whole Angkor region.
Found some great foods that we want to make at home--one is a sticky rice waffle----oh so good!! and the wheat sensitive people in the family can eat it--so will be trying that one out for sure. Another is banana pancakes----if you love bananas this is equal to or better than banana bread a little icing sugar dusted on top and a couple spoons fulls of honey that that pancake is gone!!!
Pete has been trying their teas and we have bought some to bring home ---very good ---but almost as expensive as they are at home. We did buy a bag of coffee--hope it is as good as the one we had in the shop---it was very strong---but they use their grounds 2-3 times adding a little more grounds before throwing them out---so if you like weaker coffee no problem just don't be first in line:)
Have not taken any pictures for 24 hours---the train ride and the taxi ride cut into my picture taking time. Payatta is a tourist town with all the shops that go with--- any tourist town. Lots of massage pallor's that offer many types of massages-------some are a bit graphic.
There are a lot of older white men with local ladies--some even with children so they are living very well over here and have a lot of benefits.
WE walked the town last night I finally found some reading glasses that I have been looking for---they break apart across the nose with a solid plastic circle that goes behind the head ---so they can hang on your neck until you need them and then clip together with magnets---OK I know they sell idiot strings you can put on any pair of glasses--but these are not as grannyish. They are over $40 back home and I paid $4 for 2 pairs. Pete was out luck because his head was too big.
But he found a full face snorkel mask that will allow him to keep his beard and go snorkeling. now he just has to get the salesperson to sell it to him at the price he wants to pay----so let the games begin----we have 5 days before we leave---lots of time for him to drive that poor lady crazy.
Well I will take my camera out today and try to find some good pictures for you.
