Oct 6 afternoon

SO as I said in my last post we are in Cambodia at a B&B owned by Bun Wong--very nice man, was once a Budist Monk. He lives in a home he built with his wife , daughter, Mother and a variety of adopted children and a few other that he supports.
We went into town and saw teh Temples at Angkor Wat  and then another temple that I would have to get up and wake Pete to tell you the name.

This is a Bonisi Tree in a private garden in Shanghai--beautiful gardens and more traditional building

In shanghai they are tearing down all the old and building all modern--the twisted building is one of the highest in the world. This is the business centre of Shanghai.

\
We went to a silk factory where they raised the silk worms and then spun the cocoons to unwhine them to make threads---which they then could weave into fabric. I was able to buy some of the threads for my needelwork. This is a picture of a young girl done with one thread thickness--it would of taken the artist over a year working 6 days a week 8 hours a day to make this . The threads used are finer than a human hair. Really makes one humble at the sewing and stuff I do.

This is also a silk painting--just beautiful.

We went to the Shanghai Market---so many people it was unbelievable. There are over 6 million people living in Shanghai--considered a small city in China--I believe most of the were at the market.

This picture wqas taken today and is the wall that surrounds the old kings' home. It was 6 meters high and had a moat filled with alligators--- good animal to have around to help protect you.

Look carefully at the pillars-- there are faces on each of the 4 sides 216 faces in all.
This was teh temple we saw in Cambodia today. Should say one of them the area was huge and had alot of temples on the grounds.

close up of one of the faces.

This is the largest temple in the world and one of the 7 wonders of the world built over a 1000 years ago. The manin the picture in our host Bun

Inside one on teh hall ways that go all around the temple

Had to buy gas--you can go to a gas station===but black market gas is a lot cheaper.

Cambodia is a poor country and we did drive thru some slums - one room tin shacks. They collect garbage--plastic bottles and cardboard mostly to learn a little money.
Average wage for a unskilled person is $10 a month, skilled $15. Nurses and teachers make $100 a month.
I have a few more pictures on Pete's camera that I have to down load for you so stay tuned will get that done.
