Oct. 14 evening
We got back fro our jungle trek today---a bit of an adventure--which I will tell you about over the next 2 days. There is a lot to tell and tomorrow we are taking a 12 hr train ride to Bangkok
so there will not be as much to share and I get to go to bed early tonight :)

We visited a refuge camp and beside money from the United Nations the "Long Neck" tribe supported them selves with sales of crafts and a entrance fee to the camp.
The brass rings are really heavy and were first worn to protect the women from tiger attacks as the tiger goes for the throat. Then it became a sign of beauty.

So the girls dress up and pose for pictures

This lady is from another tribe and is making a tradistional headdress

Pictures are out of order the hike we went on started at teh top of the mountain and we followed teh river and walked down the river

Lady winding yarn

Trekking in the jungle with our guide. Didn't last long so we took them off as it was getting really hot under the plastic.

One of the bridges we crossed on the trek

Our guide cooking supper over a wood fire---really good cook.
but always way too much food.

First night in a hut--under mosquotio netting.

This is a ladder to help go down a rather steep hill.

Pete going down yet another ladder

and yet another ladder/walk way

And we crossed a few bridges

But we had great views of the rice fields.

A bamboo house being built.

This is where we stayed the first night--bathroom was a squatty potty--outside around back. Shower was in a cement block building and was a large barrel and dipper----that was interesting..........

This was supper

This is bar-b-que eggs--they take the egg out mix it with spices--put it back in the egg and cook it--a lot of work!!!

These are great--sorry can not say the name--or spell it.

View form the mountain

Growing strawberries
